We appreciate the visits from BYU students who aspire to make the world a better place through design. The BYU ME class was able to tour the studio and had great questions about the value of design principles and how they relate to engineering.
Here is what a few of the students said:
“Thank you for the tour and presentation on Rocketship and design! I learned a lot about the design process, including the idea of the diverging-converging method and the principle of the design scribble. As an engineering student, it is easy to get lost in the analysis and math. Stepping back and having the entire design process explained from an industrial design perspective helped me understand how to do customer-oriented design, which is a lesson I hope to carry into future work.”
“I appreciated them showing us their actual workspace and sketches. I liked how they had their old projects displayed to remember/ inspire themselves and others. Bryce was great at telling the whole story about what the company does, and how he fits into that, which is helpful to see as an upcoming engineer.”
“I really appreciated the design principles that were shared during the presentation portion of the visit. The 4 quadrant figure with different values according to the stakeholder was a fantastic visual for something that was rather nebulous for me in the past.”
We look forward to seeing the next group!
