Ubbi

A set that grows with your baby, the toothbrush collection is a Ubbi-themed dental journey designed just for children. The handles are large for a simple grip, the forms are smooth for a safe and playful experience, and the materials are ultra-safe and ideal for sensitive gums and teething relief. Ubbi consulted Rocketship from start to finish and the result is a playful experience for kids.

The project began with an exploration into forms that would be easily identifiable as an Ubbi product. Several approaches were explored with mockups to test grippability and size in the mouth.

As the form was refined, a clear winner was the “droplet” form which played on the cleaning theme. Several stages were developed for children of different ages. The first silicone finger brush helps pre-teething infants acclimate to the toothbrushing experience. The mid-age training toothbrush allows children to practice brushing on their own and features an optional choke guard to help them learn the motions. The final stage is a functional toothbrush with color-changing bristles that show when it’s time fora new one.

After the final forms were selected, Rocketship prepared the industrial design for manufacturing by working out details in 3D including rubber overmolds, a container for the finger brush which doubled as a stand and cover for the trainer toothbrush, and texture treatments.
