Capture memories from the angle you want. The Spec camera is packed with unique features that are perfect for users that want to capture memories up close directly from their phone. Rather than filming from the bleachers at a kid’s soccer game or from the audience at a piano recital, users can place up to four Spec Cameras right in the middle of the action and pair them with their phone as if they were a camera on the phone itself. Users can make dynamic video recording switching between points of view and live stream. Rocketship provided industrial design, UI/UX development, packaging design, and design for manufacture assembly.

DESIGN
Exploration began with user research (including 2 sessions with one-way glass) which informed design decisions about the size, battery life, features, etc.
PROTOTYPING
Prototypes were made all along the way to review the size and versatility of the design. The assembly was miniaturized to fit inside of the housing with an accessory rubber case for durability and grip.
DESIGN FOR MANUFACTURING (DFM)
The design was refined for ultrasonic welding and the internal structure was prepared for simple drop-in assembly. The files were sent to a manufacturer for injection molding with the samples thoroughly reviewed.
UNBOXING EXPERIENCE
Multiple packaging solutions were created to address retail, direct-to-consumer, and bulk sales in ways that presented the product in a straightforward and reqarding way.
USER EXPERIENCE
Rocketship developed the entire app and backend coding to customize the way cameras (up to 4) connected to a a smartphone and provided features such as multiple POV switching and live streaming.
