IDEATION

The project began with ideation aimed at enhancing the visual impact of the design for an existing 4Patriots battery product. The goal was to provide an aesthetic and functionality that would feel appropriate for use in a home as well as on the go. The integrated handle was designed for ergonomics, the tilted display allowed for viewing from multiple angles, and the disguised side vents were all the product of the initial ideation.

REFINEMENT

After the initial concept was roughed out, the Rocketship team addressed the details such as port layout, materials, parting lines, branding, and the impact on the final form.

DESIGN FOR MANUFACTURING

Jumping into CAD, the conceptual design was made to fit the internal components which were provided by the client. The proportions and port layouts were adjusted for a perfect fit and the ergonomics tested with rapid prototypes to ensure the weight and balance was just right. The final DFM design was completed by another vendor using the “control CAD” provided by Rocketship.
