Two Rocketship designed products, the Palatometer & the  Simple Garden , were awarded International Design Excellence Awards ( IDEA awards) from IDSA (Industrial Design Society of America).  The IDEA awards recognize design excellence in the field of product development & industrial design.

The Palatometer, from Complete Speech, received a Gold IDEA award.  The Palatometer is a revolutionary speech therapy tool & enables speech professionals to see what an individual’s tongue is doing inside the mouth by mapping tongue movement in real time.  IDEA juror Michelle Berryman said of the Palatometer,  “I was really impressed with the collaborative, egalitarian relationship the product helped build between patient and therapist too as it positions them side by side and engages both parties with the fitted Palatometer.”  Read the full review on the Fast Company website.

Each year, the Utah Division of Design Arts sponsors an annual exhibition.  This exhibition features work submitted by Utah designers that have been selected by a juror prominent in the design field.  Budd Steinhilber, the 2010 Design Arts juror, is a renowned designer with a career that spans more than 60 years.

Past design exhibitions have featured the work of architects, landscape architects, industrial designers, furniture, fashion, commuter jets, automobiles, stage set design, mobility designs for physically challenged, books, graphic design, textiles, environmental, etc.

This year, the 2010 Utah Design Arts Exhibition is featuring 3 of Rocketship’s latest projects: Goal 0, Complete Speech, and Simple Garden. Goal 0 was selected as Jurors Choice!

TEDx is finally coming to Utah. We at Rocketship are excited to sponsor this great event.

TED is a small nonprofit devoted to Ideas Worth Spreading. It started out (in 1984) as a conference bringing together people from three worlds: Technology, Entertainment, Design.

TEDx is a new program that enables local communities such as schools, businesses, libraries, neighborhoods or just groups of friends to organize, design and host their own independent, TED-like events.

TEDxUOU | Ideas in Focus will be held at the University of Utah on Friday June 4, 2010. It will the first TEDx event ever in Utah.

The BYUID program, in cooperation with IDSA, will be hosting a Symposium on Industrial Design. The Symposium runs Thursday evening, February 18th through Friday, February 19th. The presentations will be held in room 214 of Crabtree Building (CTB). Guest speakers include Kasey Jarvis, Senior Creative Footwear Designer with Nike and Scott Richards of Motorola, just to name a few.

Rocketship, Utah’s leading industrial design and product development firm, exhibited at the annual 2010 Winter Outdoor Retailer trade show. During the four day show Rocketship designed and created a seven foot snowboard boot. After construction, the boot roamed the show halls via an electric cart and was covered with stickers from various exhibitors.
